Spectacular 1930 two-foot tall Torre de los Homenajes metal soccer stadium inkwell souvenir building Tower of Tributes Stadium, Montevideo, Uruguay The Torre de los Homenajes (Tower of Homage) dominates the Estadio Centenario in Montevideo, Uruguay. Designed by Uruguayan architect, urbanist and association football leader Juan Scasso for the 1930 World Cup, **The Estadio Centenario is the only building in the world designated by FIFA (the Fédération Internationale de Football Association) as a Monument of World Football** This silver-plated bronze inkwell shows the Olympic Tribune of the Estadio Centenario, with the area that would be the soccer pitch flattened to form a writing surface. Two removable inkwells flank the pitch area, with soccer ball-shaped lids closing over each inkwell. One of the lids is missing its fastener, but should be an easy fix. An incredible 25 inches tall with a base of approximately 14 inches by 11 inches. I’ve never seen another one, much less one that was offered for sale. On top of that, it includes an original Letter of Authorization signed by Rony Almeida certifying that it comes from the Rony Almeida Soccer Collection. Rony is an Ecuadorian-American soccer fan, numismatist, and museum curator who had assembled a vast collection of soccer memorabilia. Condition Report: When I received it, the tower was a bit loose but I tightened it by hand. One link for the soccer ball inkwell cover is missing, but easily replaceable; doesn’t detract from appearance.
