Paris 1900 universal exhibition olympic medal by roty
1900 Paris Exposition Silver Plated Medal - this was from the combination of the Exposition and the Olympics. These medals were given to judges and other officials from the 1900 Olympics, which were part of the 1900 Exposition. Louis-Oscar Roty usually known as Oscar Roty was one of the most celebrated medallists of the Art Nouveau period who designed/engraved this medal. Louis-Oscar Roty was born on 11 June 1846 in Paris. Roty, among others influenced by the Art Nouveau movement, advanced this resurgence of art in medal design. Roty, in particular, introduced the Renaissance form of the plaquette, which further emphasized the significance of the medal as a work of art. He designed hundreds of art medals celebrated for their graceful designs. Look at photos and judge the condition for yourself. This was part of my recently deceased father's coin and medal collections which I am selling on eBay. See photos and message me with any questions. Thank you for looking!
