ITEM: This is a vintage and original Fistic Film Co. production still photograph from the 1939 film, The Birth of a Champion. Pictured here is boxer Jack Dempsey. The film showcased the fight between Jack Dempsey and Jess Willard, that took place on July 4th, 1919. With this victory, Dempsey emerged as the heavyweight champion of the world in a fight that only took three rounds and has been described as "the worst carnage that boxing has witnessed in the modern age." 1939 was the first year fight films could be legally transported across state lines.
