This is the series where Caminiti had food poisoning and dehydration, received an IV, ate a Snickers bar and proceeded to hit 2-home runs to win the series finale for the Padres. The “Snickers Game” kicked off an amazing 10-game run for Caminiti, who was eventually named the National League Player of the Month for August. In the 10 games starting with the finale in Mexico, Caminiti went 17-for-36 with seven homers and 22 RBIs. For the month, Caminiti would hit .344 with 14 homers, 38 RBIs and 24 runs scored. His slugging percentage for the month was .844.
