Jan. 1968 green bay press-gazette bart starr, packers beat cowboys in ice bowl!
DESCRIPTION: Here is a beautiful and complete 8-page sports section of the Green Bay Press-Gazette newspaper, dated Tuesday, Jan. 2, 1968. It contains full coverage of the Packers 21-17 come-from-behind win over the Dallas Cowboys in the legendary Ice Bowl on New Year's Eve. QB Bart Starr's score with 13 seconds won the game -- the third straight NFL title win for Lombardi's Green Bay team. If you wonder why this is published on Tuesday, rather than Monday, it is because the P-G newspaper did not publish on New Year's Day. It is rare that one of these newspapers becomes available on the market, particularly in this condition. CONDITION: This vintage sports section is in great shape but does have a few minor issues. For one, it does have the slight yellowing you would expect from a 52-year-old newspaper. The issue was once folded vertically, but since I have owned it, I have preserved it as flat as possible. Apparently it was also once folded horizontally along the bottom half of the color photo above the fold, but it is now pretty flat. You will find a few small tears along the bottom edge of the paper, and the center fold is slightly off. Still, this newspaper looks fantastic when displayed. I would describe it as being in Very Good condition overall. This is part of a huge collection of vintage pro football and historical newspapers that I am selling. Look for more soon.
