This is one gorgeous piece of the Lunar surface. Offered here a newly classified and spectacular 1.27 gram slice of NWA 10822 Lunar meteorite. The NWA 10822 was found, cut and professionally polished to a near mirror finish before being classified in 2016. The pictured lunar slice measures approximately 21mm x 17mm x 2mm and is ringed with the meteorite's natural crust. Attention must be paid to the lunar matrix that exhibits light and dark mm-sized clasts and large mineral fragments densely scattered within its interior. This was single stone of 56g classified by Carl Agee at the University of New Mexico. The cut surface reveals a feldspathic breccia with NUMEROUS white FELDSPAR clasts set in a dark gray matrix. Dr. Agee also noted there are scattered ORANGE-BROWN clasts up to 4mm in diameter that consist primarily of PYROXENE. It is a mixture of fine-grained domains, large fragmental plagioclase crystals and melt veins. Some of these veins contain ~100 um-sized VESICLES (gas bubbles). There are also orange-brown domains consisting of PIGEONITE grains with AUGITE exsolution lamellae and interstitial plagioclase or melt veins.
