1976 montreal olympics $10 sterling silver coin-montreal skyline
The Royal Canadian mint issued 28 sterling silver coins between 1973 & 1976 to help finance the Olympic games held in Montreal in 1976. This is coin #3 - Montreal skyline - issued in 1973 as part of Series 1 - Geographic themes. The $10 coins are fairly large - about 1 ¾” in diameter - comprised of .925 silver equating to 1.44 troy oz of silver. The front/obverse has the right-facing bust of the ‘young’ Queen Elizabeth II. The back/reverse depicts the Montreal skyline as seen from the St. Lawrence River with two ships passing in the foreground. This is a matte finish coin -very good/excellent condition - there are a few very small black dots (tarnish?) on the queen side - see photos. Shipped in soft plastic coin flip.
