Complete set of the 1976 Innsbruck Winter Olympics silver 100 schilling coins - 14 coins total ( 7 proof, 7 UNC) of the 4 different designs issued by 2 different mints (Halle & Vienna) between 1974 and 1976. Each coin is 36 mm in diameter (a bit smaller than a U.S. commemorative silver dollar), 24 grams total weight - 64% silver. Around the plain (non-reeded) edges of the coins is the coin denomination - Hundert Schilling. The four designs/series include: Series one - Innsbruck Olympic emblem. The reverse/back has the Innsbruck Olympic emblem with three snowflakes at the bottom. On the obverse/front are: the coin denomination (100 Schilling) in the middle, the nine coats of arms of the nine federal provinces & a shield containing the republic eagle of Austria surrounding the middle & ‘Republik Osterreich’ (Republic of Austria) around the edges. Series two - Townscape. The reverse/back is a stylized depiction of the town of Innsbruck. The obverse/front contains a block design incorporating the coin denomination (100 Schilling), a stylized Austrian eagle & ‘Republik Osterreich’ (Republic of Austria). The mint mark is at the bottom - cross in shield - Vienna mint/Vienna coat of arms or the Halle mint mark - a Tyrolean eagle. Series three - Skier. The reverse/back is a stylized depiction of a skier. The obverse/front is identical to the series two coin. Series four - Ski Jump. The reverse/back depicts the Bergisel ski jump. The obverse/front is identical to the series two & three coins. Vienna was the only mint that produced the series one - Olympic emblem - coins. Therefore the set includes the 8 coins minted in Vienna (4 mirror proof & 4 matte finish) & the 6 coins minted in Halle - proof & UNC versions of series two, three & four. The maroon leatherette case is labeled on the top & front edge in gold - Republik Osterweich Olympiamunren’l(?). The interior top side of the case has a padded white/ivory sateen lining with the five Olympic rings logo imprinted in gold, XII Olympische Winterspiele (12th Winter Olympic Games), 1976 Innsbruck. The lower side has the coin platform - dark red felt/velveteen with 14 inset circles for the coins. The case has 2 brass covered foldover snap closures on the front side & 2 brass hinges on the back. Sizewise, it is 10 ½" side to side, about 9" top to bottom & about 1 1/4" wide. The coins are in very good condition - not all are pristine & there does appear to be a small amount of haze developing on some coins. The case has some scuffed areas - mostly on the case bottom & in the case interior front corners - which you can see in the photos. Overall, a very nice collection.
