1964 tokyo olympics silver 100 yen coin
Japan issued two silver yen coins - 100 yen & 1000 yen - to celebrate the summer Olympic games in Tokyo in 1964. The 100 yen coin is the smaller of the two coins - 22.6 mm in diameter - a tad bigger than a U.S. nickel. It weighs 4.8 grams - 60% silver. The obverse/front design depicts the Olympic flame & Olympic rings & ‘Japan 100 yen’ in Japanese character script.. The reverse/back has the coin denomination (100)‘ & two inscriptions - ‘Tokyo 1964' at the top & ‘Year 39 of the reign of Showa (Emperor Hirohito)’ in Japanese character script at the bottom. In good/very good condition - some tarnish marks evident on both sides - see photos. Shipped in soft plastic coin flip. Will combine shipping for multiple purchases
